Tooth extractions refer to the removal of teeth.

Extractions are performed to maintain your oral health and eliminate troublesome teeth. Advanced gum disease may necessitate the removal of teeth, while impacted wisdom teeth may also require extraction. Our office ensures safe, comfortable, and relaxed extractions at your convenience.

What is the reason for needing tooth extractions?

Extractions are typically done as a last resort to preserve a tooth. Certain teeth can negatively impact your oral health, so it is advisable to remove them before they lead to problems such as shifting, infection, and damage within the mouth. There are several reasons why you might require or desire an extraction, including:

Impacted wisdom teeth can cause discomfort and require attention.

Loose or extensively decayed teeth.

Teeth that have cracks or fractures extending beneath the gum line.

Baby teeth that are difficult to remove.

You want to prevent any further treatment from being done.

Who qualifies as a candidate for Tooth Extractions?

An examination is necessary to determine if an extraction is needed. It is generally advised for most patients who need an extraction to undergo the procedure. Neglecting a problematic tooth can result in future complications like infections and abscesses. X-rays will be taken to help assess the need for an extraction.

What occurs during a tooth extraction?

We begin by offering you the choice of anesthetic or sedation. During your consultation, we can discuss the different sedation options available. Once you are comfortable, we will proceed to loosen and remove the tooth. If necessary, we may also place sutures to close the gums. To stop any bleeding, we will have you bite down on gauze. If you have been sedated, we will then take you to a recovery room until you are fully awake. If general sedation was used, it is important that a friend or relative accompanies you home. We will provide you with essential aftercare instructions that must be followed.
